Product Description

The Lopez Tang (Naso lopezi), also known as the Elongate or Slender Unicornfish, is a large, active, herbivorous marine fish prized in large saltwater tanks for its stunning blue body with black spots, requiring significant space (75+ gallons), high oxygen, strong currents, and a diet of algae and seaweed to control algae growth and thrive, though its size and activity suit only advanced aquarists for large setups.

Key Characteristics:

Appearance: Greyish/blue body with dense black spots, often with blue lips and tail.

Size: Can grow quite large (up to 2 feet), needing ample swimming room.

Temperament: Generally peaceful but herbivorous, potentially dislodging corals while grazing.

Diet: Primarily herbivorous (algae, seaweed), eats flakes/pellets.

Aquarium Care:

Tank Size: Minimum 75 gallons, but larger is better for this active fish.

Water Conditions: Needs high oxygen and strong water movement.

Reef Safe: Yes, it's coral and invertebrate safe.

Difficulty: Best for advanced aquarists due to its size and needs.

Habitat & Origin:

Origin: Indian Ocean, found in deep outer reef slopes.
