Product Description

A Green Torch Coral (*Euphyllia glabrescens), a popular Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral, features vibrant green, flowing tentacles, making it a stunning, generally hardy addition to reef tanks, needing moderate light, indirect water flow, stable parameters (Ca, Alk, Mg), and supplemental feeding with meaty foods, while requiring space to avoid stinging neighbors.

Key Characteristics & Care:

Type: Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral, genus Euphyllia.

Appearance: Long, flowing tentacles with rounded tips, often bright green with various tip colors.

Care Level: Moderate, considered good for beginners due to predictable behavior.

Lighting: Moderate levels are usually sufficient, but they can adapt to higher light if acclimated slowly.

Water Flow: Moderate and indirect; strong flow damages polyps, while too little traps detritus.

Feeding: Photosynthetic but benefit from supplemental feeding (mysis, brine shrimp, micro-plankton).

Placement: Mid-level rockwork, ensuring space for tentacles and to prevent stinging other corals with sweeper tentacles.

Water Parameters: Stable levels of Calcium, Alkalinity (dKH), Magnesium, plus nitrates (5-20 ppm) and phosphates (0.03-0.15 ppm).

Important Considerations:

Aggression: They have sweeper tentacles and will sting other corals, so provide ample space.

Compatibility: Avoid mixing with other Euphyllia like Hammers or Frogspawns due to aggression.

Disease: Watch for "brown jelly disease," a serious condition causing rapid tissue loss.
